THE LAW KISSES THE HANDS OF CLERICS AND PUBLIC FIGURES
The
tradition of kissing the hands of clerics or public figures is familiar to all
of us, because we do not yet know about the law and the postulate of kissing
someone's hand. Now we will explain about the postulates, laws and histories of
the prophet Muhammad Saw, friends and tabi'ins.
-THE COMPANIONS ONCE KISSED THE HANDS AND FEET OF THE MESSENGER OF ALLAH SAW
The
companions always vying to glorify the prophet Saw wherever and
whenever,Because they knew that the prophet Muhammad had a high degree in their
hearts. The way they respected was different for example, When the prophet
shaved his head many companions competed for the shaved hair of the prophet and
kept it in their own homes. In addition many of them honored the prophet by
kissing the hands and feet of the prophet . As narrated from Zari' an envoy
from Abdul Qais he said :
............... جعلنا نتبادر من رواحلنا فنقبل يد رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلّم ورجله
That is to say:.............we rushed down from our camels and
kissed the hands and legs of the Messenger of Allah .( H.R. al-Baihaqi ) sunan al-kubra

-THE MESSENGER OF ALLAH ONCE KISSED SOMEONE'S HAND
Prophet
Muhammad Saw once kissed the hand of someone who was His own daughter, Siti
Fatimah Az-Zahra r.a. As narrated by Siti Aisyah r.a :
ما رايت احدا كان اشبه كلاما وحديثا
من فاطمة برسول الله ص.م وكانت اذا دخلت عليه رحّب بها وقام اليها فاْ خدت بيدها
فقبّلها واجلسها في مجلسه وكان اذا دخل عليها رحّبت به فاْ خد بيده فقبّلتها
That
is to say : I have never seen anyone who resembles the Messenger of Allah
more in terms of speech and speech than fatimah Az-zahra . When Fatimah visited
the prophet ,He welcomed him, took her by the hand and then kissed him
(Fatimah's hand) and invited him to sit at his place. On the other hand ,if he visited
Fatimah's house ,he stood up to greet her and kissed His hand. ( H.R. Abu Dawud
,at-Tirmidzi and an-nasa'I ) sunan Abi Dawud no 5219,Jamiat Tirmidzi no 4246 and Sunan al-kubra
an-Nasa'i

TASSED THE HAND OF A FRIEND
Imam
Ahmad ibn Hanbal in his Musnad narrated that there was a tabi'in named
Tsabit Al-Bannani (Tsabit Al-Bannani), asking Anas bin Malik:
يا انس مسست يد رسول الله ص.م بيدك
قال نعم قال أرني أقبّلها
That is to say:''O Anas ,Did the
hand of the Messenger of Allah ever touch your tanga ? Anas replied: ''Yes''
Tsabit al-Bannani said: '' show me "I will kiss him''

-LAW KISSES THE HANDS OF SCHOLARS/PUBLIC FIGURES AND SHALIHS
After
we look at the above histories from the prophetMuhammad Saw, friends and
tabi'ins that they kissed someone's hand aimed as an expression of lil
ta'dim i.e. respect for those who have a high degree and are noble . As for
according to history that kissing the hands of the scholars, shalihin, Ahlul
stanza of the Prophet Muhammad Saw the law is sunnah. As narrated by some
histories include:
Ø Ziyad ibn Fayyad of Tamim ibn Salamah ( Sunan al-Kubra
no 13363 )
Ø Al-Hafidz Adz-Dzahabi ( An imam ,
worship expert, al-hafidz, zuhud expert, tsiqah, and just )

REFERENCE TO LEGALITY ( ABILITY TO KISS HANDS )
In
a book titled Taqbil Al-yad by a cleric named Al-Hafidz Abu Bakr
Muhammad ibn Ibrahim bin Ali Al-Ishabani nicknamed Ibn Al-Muqri (381)
explains about 31 postulates that can kiss hands. The book has been tahqiqed
by Sheikh Adib ibn Muhammad Al-Kylani and published by the publisher Dar Ibn
Katsir. In addition, the reference to this matter has been stated in a book
entitled I'lam An-Nabiil bi Jawaz At-Taqbiil by Sheikh Al'Alamah Abdullah bin
As-Shadiq Al-Ghumari.
